Village Education Intern in Africa

Art in Tanzania

Art in Tanzania focuses on helping with educational tasks in the nursery, primary and secondary schools in Tanzania, and adult vocational training. The schools we help are mostly poor village schools. Interns focus on developing primary education and also conduct advocacy work.

Art in Tanzania’s Educational program is part of our Children’s Agenda approach implemented by a coalition including UNICEF and Save the Children, among others. We work in a village nursery and primary and secondary schools, but we also run adult vocational training where the focal point is the women.

The program also includes classes for children living with disabilities. Participants are specifically needed to cover subjects where the schools are weak.
Areas of development include English, arts and music, mathematics, and sports teaching.

Interns also advocate raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, health, and hygiene. Debate-based English training is a trendy subject. We use our social media pages for advocacy work, and our Facebook pages have more than 50K followers. We also highlight teacher-training activities.

Tools in the classrooms are scarce, and the number of pupils in a school can be more than 40.

The working hours are 6-8 hours from Monday to Friday.

Academic-level team leaders are daily supervising your internship. In addition, we monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to secure you proceed well in your study program.

The internship outcome is to learn to use and get experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacitation. Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.

Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Your program can be from 2 weeks up to 12 months.

The program is ongoing so that we can adjust your start dates. We accept applications from all students and alumni. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower our daily work with the communities.

You can also conduct thesis and related tasks. The typical daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility tasks.

We provide 2x the local minimum wage of USD 100 per month for paid internships payable when you stay a minimum of 4 weeks.

The start and end dates are flexible and accommodate other travel arrangements in Tanzania.

The International flights, student permits, accommodation, and meals are personal costs.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy sustainable tourism, safaris, and local tour options at a low price.

We need your tentative arrival and departure dates to book you in and open your account. - Tumaini nursery school - Adult Vocational Teaching

We have around 20 people on our staff, including 2-3 expatriates. In addition, we have 20 -50 international volunteers and interns in Tanzania year-round. Participants live in our compound while mainly working in the surrounding schools and areas.

Our focus includes education, social work, medical health, HIV/AIDS, sports, art, movie production, marketing, media, tourism, environmental and climate change programs, and corporate social responsibility tasks.

Art in Tanzania partners with the EU Commission cofounded the ERASMUS+ program to develop volunteer and internship training quality for EU countries.

Our community-based programs aim to empower local communities and individuals. Students immerse in the daily life of Tanzanian society.

Interns are working in teams of international students and sometimes volunteer professionals. We encourage innovation and creativity in the program's approach. Professional staff members tutor programs for each sector/field.

We are looking to expand our field of international volunteering and internships to empower community development workers in Tanzania.
